Dr. Mikao Usui gave five principles:

Just for today, I will be grateful.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

In Yoga philosophy, the Universal Life Energy is referred to as Prana.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is known as Chi or Qi. We all are alive because of Prana or Life Energy flowing through us. It is the foundation of all forms of Life. It is the energy which is present in the entire Universe. Prana flows in everything that exists.

Parna flows in our bodies through energy channels called Nadis and Chakras. It is Prana that makes life possible. When the flow of Prana is disrupted or blocked it causes the illness.

The Reiki healer works as a channel for Universal Life Energy. This energy enters the healer through his head and flows through his body and comes out through his palms. The Reiki healer passes on the energy to the receiver by placing his hands on the receiver if the receiver is physically present or to a receiver in a far-off place through a method called Distant Reiki Healing.

Reiki flows through the receiver’s affected parts of the body and revitalizes it and clears the energy pathways. It helps the Life Energy to flow in a natural way.
