Jika di luar negeri sereal sangat populer sebagai menu sarapan, di Indonesia bubur hampir tidak pernah absen dalam menu makan pagi. Tidak sulit menemukan bubur pada pagi hari di restoran-restoran, foodcourt maupun gerobak kaki lima. Apa sih kelebihan dan kekurangan bubur sebagai menu sarapan?

"Bubur mudah dicerna. Itu saja, selebihnya cuma masalah selera. Orang Indonesia memang suka bubur," kata dr Yustina Anie Indrianti, SpGK dari Persatuan Dokter Gizi Medik Indonesia (PDGMI) yang ditemui dalam acara penyerahan secara simbolis 2 juta Sereal Sarapan Nestle di Carrefour Lebakbulus, Jakarta Selatan, Kamis (14/2/2013).

Bagi sebagian orang termasuk dr Anie sendiri, bubur terasa lebih nyaman di perut untuk dikonsumsi pada pagi hari. Namun ia tidak mengharamkan sumber karbohidrat lain seperti nasi, sereal atau roti sebagai sumber energi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kalori dari pagi hingga tengah hari.

For some people, including Dr. Anie own, porridge feels more comfortable in the stomach to be consumed in the morning. But he did not forbid other sources of carbohydrates such as rice, cereal or bread as a source of energy to meet the caloric needs of the morning until noon.
