RestYourDroid provides a REST API for your Android device. Control your device remotely via simple HTTP calls.

This version is the free 'local' version which allows you to access your device from your local network only. You can also download the 'global' version which allows you to access your device from anywhere on the internet:

The RestYourDroid REST API supports the following methods:



acceleration: Measures the acceleration force in m/s2 that is applied to a device on all three physical axes (x, y, and z).

battery: Return the battery charge and status.

camera: Take a picture with the phone's camera.

contacts: Retrieve all contacts on the device.

files: Browse and download files on the external storage.

gps: Return location (gps) information.

gravity: Measures the force of gravity in m/s2 that is applied to a device on all three physical axes (x, y, z).

gyroscope: Measures a device's rate of rotation in rad/s around each of the three physical axes (x, y, and z).

humidity: Measures the relative ambient humidity in percent (%).

light: Measures the ambient light level (illumination) in lux.

magnetism: Measures the ambient geomagnetic field for all three physical axes (x, y, z) in μT.

notify: Create a simple notification.

poll_init: Create a poll, asking the user to choose between a number of alternatives

poll_result: Retrieve the results from a poll

pressure: Measures the ambient air pressure in hPa or mbar.

proximity: Measures the proximity of an object in cm relative to the view screen of a device. This sensor is typically used to determine whether a handset is being held up to a person's ear.

ram: Return RAM usage.

rotation: Measures the orientation of a device by providing the three elements of the device's rotation vector.

speech: Make the phone speak a given text using text-to-speech.

temperature: Measures the temperature of the device in degrees Celsius (°C).

text: Send a text message (sms).

texts: Retrieve all texts (sms messages) on your phone.

url: Play a url on the phone

vibrate: Activate the vibrator
