Cahokia is a cultural heritage site and is the largest and earliest Pre-Columbian settlement north of Mexico. At the peak of its civilization during 800 AD to 1400 AD, this agricultural society housed one of the greatest cities of the world. This is the largest archeological site in the US and consists of several mounds. The Monks Mound covering 5 ha and with 30 m height is the largest prehistoric earthwork in the Americas.
