Room Divider Ideas APPLICATION description

At times, having a large and spacious room can be a problem. The reason is, large rooms do not offer sufficient privacy and the entire space can never be used in an optimum manner. Thus, a good idea would be to divide a large room into two or more smaller rooms, so that you can ensure the privacy of the occupants, as well as increase the utility of the room. There are several ways in which you can partition the room.

Hanging curtains is one of the simplest and cheapest way of dividing the room. However, curtains do not ensure complete privacy as they are not soundproof. Building a wall is one solution, but then the partition would be on a permanent basis. Moreover, this is an expensive option. In this situation, sliding dividers could be the most feasible option of partitioning a room.

Sliding dividers are mostly used in churches or school dormitories, wherein you are required to divide a huge room into smaller rooms. Even in homes, sliding door dividers can be used to close open spaces or to divide larger rooms.
For instance, you can divide a large kitchen into separate cooking and dining area or a living room can be divided into recreation room and sitting room. Even kid's bedroom can be divided in study room and play room. Besides, you can also separate a small area for your home office or den. Thus, you can ensure privacy and enhance utility of any room by simply installing or hanging room dividers.
Sliding Divider Material
These dividers come in a vast variety and you can choose sliding divider material from glass, aluminum or metal. Moreover, you can install them yourself at home, thereby alleviating the expenses of a professional's fee. Sliding dividers are convenient to use and are very versatile. If in future you need to expand the room to its original size, you can simply uninstall the sliding dividers. Thus, they are the most practical way of partitioning the room.

Choosing Sliding Room Dividers
Sliding dividers for rooms are available in various materials and styles. The purpose of partition and the extent of privacy expected will mostly dictate the choice of material. Frosted dividers look elegant and ensure optimal privacy. If you are looking for something exotic, then shoji dividers are for you. They render a nice, oriental look to your room. Besides, one can also use wood or vinyl panels for making sliding room dividers.
Installation
Firstly, you need to take the measurement of the space where you would like the divider to go. Take measurements for the track, which needs to be installed at the ceiling. Choose the pattern and material for the sliding screens. Determine the number of screens you will need by dividing the length of the track by the width of each screen. Make all the necessary purchases at the local hardware store. Install the track on the ceiling and make sure it is evenly fitted. You may use shims if needed. Attach the rollers at the top of the screen and bottom, if you are going to use a floor track as well. The rollers are adjustable, thereby holding the door straight and in place. If you wish you may install a floor track, which is equal to the length of the ceiling track, else you may go for door guides. Installing either of them will prevent the screens from swaying back and forth. Finally, fit the doors in the track or guide and fix them. Slide the divider to check if it moves smoothly. You may hide the tracks if you wish, a decorative trim can come in handy.
