Shark Masq [ROOT]

A DNSMasq frontend UI for Android devices.

[WILL ONLY WORK WITH ROOTED DEVICES]


Shark Masq allows you to have a caching DNS server on your device.

This provides increased security by letting you select the DNS server of
your choice for a given URL while blocking other, selected URLs.

A slightly faster Internet browsing speed is an added benefit of caching
DNS directly on the device, as the URL request will happen within the device
itself.

Features:

• DNSMasq functions as a lightweight caching DNS server.
• Primary and Secondary DNS servers selection.
• Blocks URL addresses.
• Support list to prevent bogus NXDOMAIN responses.
• Select DNS servers for specified URLs.
• Network information section for active settings.
• Available for phones and tablets
• Import address lists.
• Basic Network info.
• Dark and light themes.

Note:

• For ROOTED devices only!!! (This app will not work if your device is not rooted).
• This app may cause issues with other networking software.
• Some tether apps may not function properly when Shark Masq is active.
• Some automation apps (eg. Tasker) as well as frameworks (eg. Xposed) may interfere with Shark Masq functionality and prevent it from working properly.
• Devices with low memory, small vm heap size, or with a single core can be really slow on initial setup or start up or fail completely to start.
• On slow devices initial start up can display a grey screen while waiting for root permissions.
• Installing the app on external card may cause the app to receive the boot completed message too late and not start up on boot.
• Importing lists requires creating special xml files (one for each section), see website for details.
• As of Shark Masq 2015.9 only Android v5.0 and above versions will be supported (runs on Android 4.4.4 and above).
• Some Android ROMs using SuperSU may experience shortened battery usage, CyanogenMod based ROMs do not have this issue.
• Due to a bug in Android 6.0 when accessing internal storage for the first time even if permissions are given access will fail, closing and restarting the app will restore access there-after.
• Has experimental 64 bit support included.
• Hardware tested on devices with CyanogenMod.
• Android Nougat is not currently supported.
