About the Sheik Khalil Hussary:

Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary, a great reciter and man of religious beliefs. He was born in Egypt in the 17th of September 1917 (corresponding to the first of Zu el Hija 1335) in a village called Shubra Al Namla Tanta in the governorate of the western side of Egypte.

Just before his birth, Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary’s family left the governorate of Fayoum and headed towards the small village of Shubra El Namla, where he was initially born. Over there, Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary’s father enrolled him in the Quranic School of the region at the early age of 4 years old. The objective of this step was to perfectly memorize and learn the Holy Quran.

Four years later, Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary finally learned the Holy Quran, with determination and motivation. He therefore realized his first dreams as a child. By the early age of twelve only; he enrolled in the religious Institute of Tanta.

Time went by; he had become more and more ambitious, so Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary decided to follow perfection, and therefore completely enhance his reading skills, and that was taking place while he was at the end of his studies at Al Azhar.

His career regarding recitation started at the early forties. Indeed, he began to recite long Quran verses at the mosque of the village. All this occurred after he wrote a formal request to take a test, which he brilliantly passed.

The sixteenth of November 1944, was a significant day for him. He broadcasted his first recitations on an Egyptian radio station where all of his productions were kept for ten years.

After this short memorable success, Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary was named a Sheikh in the Sidi Abdul Muta’a Maqra’a (religious school) in Tanta. He lately joined the great mosque Sidi Hamza on the 7th of August 1948. His road reached an end when he became the official reciter at the same mosque in October 10th, 1944.

In this vein, the great Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary reached fame and popularity by being chosen to supervise the governorate’s maqaris (religious schools) of the west by a ministerial order. His career was getting more interesting and important thanks to his designation as a reciter at the great mosque of Sidi Ahmed El Badaoui in the region of Tanta. Later on he went back to Ahmadi mosque located in the Imam Hussein mosque located in the Egyptian capital Cairo, in 1955.

The great Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary had also the privilege of reciting the Holy Quran in several countries around the world, including the United States, England, in the Royal Palace in London, and even at white house, and the American Hall congress.

Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary became, with great merit, the first religious person who recorded the Holy Quran. We can site some passages such as Hafs of Assim, Warsh of Nafi, Qalun, and also Eddouri and Bassri, Mus7af Mufasar.

The beloved Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary passed away at the age of 63 on Monday the 16th of Muharram 1401 (corresponding to the 4th of November 1980). R.I.P
