Dalam tali temali kita sering mencampuradukan antara tali, simpul dan ikatan. Hal ini sebenarnya berbeda sama sekali. Tali adalah bendanya, Simpul adalah hubungan antara tali dengan tali sementara Ikatan adalah hubungan anatara tali dengan benda lainnya, misal kayu, balok, bambu dsb-nya.
