Soundgarden Greatest Hits APPLICATION description

Soundgarden was formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington, USA by Chris Cornell (vocals), Kim Thayil (guitars), and Hiro Yamamoto (bass). Chris Cornell initially doubles as a drummer. While Matt Cameron joined the drummer fixed in 1986 after previously filled by Scott Sundquist (1985). But in 1990 Yamamoto came out and was replaced by Ben Shepherd.
Soundgarden is one of four "Godfather of Grunge" in addition to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains. But they themselves deny their association with grunge music. Nevertheless, Soundgarden fans continue to incorporate the band into this genre.

Soundgarden's main strength lies in Chris Cornell's vocals and guitarist Kim Thayil. Chris Cornell also once strengthened the band "Audioslave" consisting of former band personnel "Rage Against The Machine". Soundgarden music is likened to the rebirth of Led Zeppelin.

Like other grunge bands in Seattle, Soundgarden also signed with Sub Pop label. Soundgarden was also the first grunge band to sign contracts with major label A & M Records in 1988. Although the band could not achieve commercial success until they popularized grunge music in 1990.

The most successful Soundgarden album was "Superunknown" in 1994. The album ranked number one on the Billboard chart and earned Gramy Award for "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman" singles. Unfortunately in 1997 the band broke up due to internal disputes between its personnel. The dispute between Chris Cornell and Kim Thayil where Chris wants to change the color of their music from the heavy guitar riffing that has become a trade-mark of this band.

Before disbanding, Soundgarden had released their fifth album "Down On The Upside". This album is very different from the previous Soundgarden album. On this album Soundgarden music sounds less heavy and less dark. Away from the band's own root of grunge. However, the album also released several singles, including: "PrettyNose", "Burden In My Hands" and "Blow Up The Outside World". In fact, "Pretty Nose" was nominated for a Gramy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance 1997.
