Dialah Isma’il bin ‘Umar bin Katsir rahimahullah, salah seorang murid Syaikhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyyah rahimahullah (wafat tahun 774 H). Tafsirnya dijadikan rujukan oleh para ulama dan penuntut ilmu semenjak jaman beliau hingga sekarang.
