The Secret Of The Rosary (St. Montfort)

This little gem of a book is about the Holy Rosary, by St. Louis de Montfort (1673 - 1716), a French priest. The book discusses the power of the rosary and gives a number of short sections called Roses, each about one or two pages long. Each Rose discusses a separate view of the Rosary, for example priests versus lay people.

The book also discusses two different methods of praying the rosary, with three additional methods listed in the book God Alone, based on the collected writings of Montfort.

The book has an introduction and two main parts 1) "What the Rosary is" and 2) "How to Recite it". The book is structured with 53 "Roses" or sections.

The introduction has three different Roses: 1) White Roses for priests, 2) Red Roses for sinners, and 3) Mystical Rose Trees for devout souls. These three Roses encapsulate the multi-viewed approach taken by the book. The counsel for priests about using the Rosary to save sinners is directly related to the advice given to sinners on how to use the Rosary for salvation. This theme continues throughout the book, each Rose gently leading to another, in the process gradually revealing various "secrets" about how to approach the Rosary and how to recite and use it.
