Tick-Tack BonApp APPLICATION description

Short descriptions in English of 4000 dishes in foreign restaurant menus
Enjoy your next holiday far more! Understand what dishes you are ordering, and order something that you know you will like. When you have been abroad, have you ever looked forward to a lovely meal in a restaurant only to be faced with a foreign menu that you don't understand? If so, you will love Tick-Tack BonApp. It is just the app for you. You can try it for free.

You will not have to spend your holiday living on pizza and cappuccino because those are the only items on the menu that you recognize.

On your smartphone you type a few letters from any dish on the menu and it will display the names of all dishes containing those letters, in the way it is usually described in the cuisine in question, with a short clear description in English telling you what it is - not a list of ingredients, not a recipe, but just a few lines helping you decide whether to try it. If that dish doesn't appeal to you, just type the name of another dish.

You get the Basic version free. It offers the cuisines of four European countries plus English. You can get the full version (20 cuisines) for £0.75 (plus tax).

The full version covers the main dishes in the cuisines of Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria and Russia - and includes a host of dishes from other cuisines including Slovakia, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Albania. Over 4000 dishes in total.

Of course, it cannot cover every dish and cannot be exhaustive, as hotels and restaurants often create their own special dishes and make up their own fancy names. Chefs like using obscure culinary terms that you are unsure of, just to impress you.

Letters in square brackets, like [FRA], at the end of each description indicate the country where the dish is most likely to be found on menus. The number in brackets indicates the course when the dish is usually served, such as (1) starter, (2) pasta , (3) fish, (4) main course, (5) dessert and (6) drink. The Help text will remind you what these codes mean.

Before you go abroad you can have fun deciding what dishes you would like to try during your holiday. It is a great way to spend time at the airport or during your flight, and an excellent way to learn about the cuisines of other countries and greatly enhances your enjoyment of your trips abroad.
