O tico-tico-do-mato é uma ave passeriforme da família Passerellidae.
Conhecido também como pai-pedro, coroado, jesus-meu-deus (Bahia) e tico-tico-coleiro (Minas Gerais).

Nome Científico

Seu nome científico significa: do (grego) arrhëmön = silencioso,
sem discurso; (baseado em “Oiseau silencieux” de Buffon (1770-1783)); e do (latim) semi = quase,
pequeno; e torquatus, torque = com colar, colar.

Características

Mede 15 centímetros de comprimento.
O macho tem a parte inferior branco-acinzentada com uma faixa preta à altura do peito,
formando um colar, há amarelo nos ombros e o bico é preto;
a fêmea apresenta as partes inferiores de coloração bege com os lados amarronzados,
e a faixa no peito não tão evidente e, às vezes, interrompida.
Substitui o tico-tico-de-bico-preto nas serras e encostas da Serra do Mar.
Difere deste pela mandíbula amarelada e não negra e por apresentar as dragonas das asas menos amareladas.

Hábitos

É comum no sub-bosque de florestas úmidas, bordas de florestas e capoeiras maduras.

Distribuição Geográfica

Presente na Mata Atlântica desde o Espírito Santo, passando por Minas Gerais,
Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina e a faixa norte do litoral do Rio Grande do Sul.
