The second edition of the new version of the women's Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will begin on July 23 in Clermont-Ferrand, on the same day as the stage 21 conclusion of the men's race in Paris, and the eight-day race will finish on July 30 in Pau.

The Tour de France Femmes will be held across eight stages again; however, it will not begin on the Champs-Elysées circuits in Paris as it did in 2022. Instead, it will take on a whole new area of France in 2023.

The Grand Départ is set in the Massif Central, with eight days of racing beginning on July 23, in the city of Clermont-Ferrand and the 956km route will take the peloton south and into the Pyrénées, ending with a mountaintop finish on the iconic Col du Tourmalet on stage 7, the crowning moment of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes, and a stage 8 individual time trial in Pau.

The course for the 2023 Tour de France Femmes has something for everyone and with the race set to kick off in Clermont-Ferrand on Sunday, attention turns to just which riders are likely to fare best in the eight-day race with a route that winds its way from the Massif Central, south to the Col du Tourmalet and onto a finishing time trial in Pau.

The 2022 event, which signalled the return of women's Tour de France after decades of absence, was to an extent treading into unknown territory. The challenging mountainous stage race of the Giro d'Italia Donne may have long been on the calendar but a stage race for yellow brought a whole different level of attention, prestige and - with that - pressure to perform.

It became the clear focal point of so many top riders' seasons and that intensity of competition isn't likely to change one bit in the year ahead.

The Tour de France Femmes 2023 marks the second edition of the French stage race for women after Annemiek Van Vleuten claimed the inaugural edition for Movistar.

The 2023 Tour de France Femmes will start in Clermont-Ferrand on Sunday, July 23.

The event will cover 956km over 8 stages. It will be broadcast live on French TV and via ASO's international broadcast partners.
