Who is Viet Khang?

Viet Khang -- born Vo Minh Tri - is a young Vietnamese songwriter and singer in his thirties. He was arrested by the Vietnamese communist authorities on December 23rd, 2011 for simply composing and singing two patriotic songs ("Who Are You" and "Where is my Vietnam") emphasising the concern of the Vietnamese people, facing with the gradual invasion of China. During 2011, hundreds of people staged multiple anti-China demonstrations in Vietnam to protest against the Chinese incursions into the Vietnamese maritime borders.

Ironically, several protesters were incarcerated or brutally oppressed by the Vietnamese police - without trials. Viet Khang, highlighted these tragic moments in his songs which warrant his arrest incommunicado.
