What Is It Like To Be Blind? APPLICATION description

This is a Children's Interactive Storybook App from ThoughtfulChildrensBooks.com with a theme about children with special needs. It is about understanding Blindness and learning to be thoughtful with all friends, even those with special needs such as blindness. The story is interactive. Touch the words to have the story read to you. Then touch everything else on the screen and some fun actions and sounds start to happen. You will have fun throughout the story.
In the story, Adam is a best friend to Blake. Adam and Blake get to play together when their moms visit. They have many adventures like going to the park and riding on the Play Fire Truck for kids. Blake's mom explains to Adam that Blake is blind. But that is pretty hard for him to understand.
Adam shuts his eyes and imagines different situations discovering what it would be like to be blind. He finds that, like Blake, he has to use touch, sound, smell and taste to learn about things he cannot see. He and Blake have fun figuring out what clues Adam needs to discover things he cannot see with his eyes closed. Adam soon learns that an unusual bump without warning would scare anyone who cannot see. It might even be a dinosaur!
Adam decides that if he is a best friend to Blake he should help him understand everything going on around him. Adam also learns how to approach Blake and let him know who he is and what he might be bringing to share. They can even enjoy something new like a visit to a dinosaur park.
As Adam talks this over with his mom, she complements him on being "thoughtful" which is a very good thing to learn as you grow up. Adam then tells Blake's mom all about how he intends to have great times with Blake. The story ends as it is revealed that Adam and Blake are real kids that are real best friends living in Texas.
The author/illustrator Judy K Johnson wishes to thank Catch Thompson, her grandson, for narrating the story. Blake is also her real grandson and she thanks him and his real best friend Adam for living her story. Go to the author's website for more stories and apps about real special needs children and their friends. The author also will custom create a storybook for children with special needs. See the website for more details.
