Project Y4PZ is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making initiative with the sole purpose of promoting a Culture of Peace (CoP) among Zambian youths. As PY4PZ we believe in the inestimable value of educating and mobilizing youth in support of democracy and a CoP. The Project is premised on the belief that peace in the minds of the youth is the best safeguard for a country#39;s prosperity and future.brbrquot;Peace is the foundation of prosperity and a prerequisite for any form of socio-economic and political development. A culture of peace is indispensable for democratic governance, protection of human rights and the promotion of social welfare for the citizenryquot;. -UNESCObrbrThe NeedbrIn order to preclude a culture of hatred and violence from growing in Zambia, it is imperative that a CoP is inculcated in the youth who are the future leaders of the country and make up approximately 33.3% and 41.9% of the populations in the rural and urban areas respectively. Youths are Zambia#39;s main human resource and must be encouraged and supported to make the choice to reject a culture of hatred and violence for a CoP. A culture of hatred and violence is symptomatic of an underlying deficiency in moral, ethical, intellectual and spiritual capacity. It is a manifestation of a limited world view caused by a limited repertoire of knowledge and communication skills for interpersonal relations and conflict resolution. Indeed, if unattended to, the violent inclinations on one generation can spill over to the next.
