Für die Urlauber des Luxusraumschiffes Kometenstaub endet die Reise nicht am Strand ihrer Träume, sondern am Boden des unbekannten Planeten Ythaq. Dort wecken die unerschrockene Navigatorin Granit, Bordtechniker Narvarth und die zickige Passagierin Callista bei ihrer Suche nach weiteren Überlebenden rasch die Aufmerksamkeit der machthungrigen Markgräfin Ophyde - und deren skrupellose Schergen überbringen sicher keine Einladung zum Tee. Zwar gelingt Granit und Narvarth mit der Hilfe von Einheimischen vorerst die Flucht. Callista jedoch fällt in die Hände der Gräfin, was diese allerdings sehr schnell bereut. Aber auch wenn es Callista geschafft hat, Ophyde zu überrumpeln und deren Platz einzunehmen - damit haben die Schwierigkeiten für sie erst begonnen. Nun herrscht sie über einen Palast, dessen Regeln sie nicht kennt. Und in seinem Innersten verbirgt sich obendrein ein Geheimnis, das für das Trio überlebenswichtig wird...
