Doll House Barbie Design APPLICATION description
Barbie is a doll produced by an American company, Mattel, and was introduced in March 1959. The doll maker, Ruth Handler, was inspired by a German doll named Bild Lilli.
Ruth Handler watched her daughter, Barbara, playing with a paper doll, and she saw that her son was playing with the doll as if communicating with an adult. At that time, most of the dolls for children were babies. Recognizing that would be a gap in marketing, Handler had the idea of making an adult doll and the idea was conveyed to her husband Elliot, co-founder of the Mattel toy company.
On his way to Europe in 1956 with his son Barbara and Kenneth, Ruth Handler passed a shop selling a German doll called Bild Lilli. Finally Handler bought the three dolls, one of which was given to his daughter and the other two dolls given to Mattel.
