La Novena a Santa Filomena

Pese a que Santa Filomena fue una adolescente mártir de los primeros tiempos de la Iglesia, su existencia no fue conocida hasta el 24 de mayo 1802, fecha en que sus restos fueron encontrados en la catacumba de Santa Priscila. El 10 de agosto de 1805 sus reliquias fueron trasladadas a Mugnano del Cardinale (Italia), lugar donde en la actualidad se encuentra su santuario. Entre los principales propagadores del culto a esta santa de reciente conocimiento, figura San Juan María Vianney (el santo Cura de Ars), gran devoto de ella y a quién se debe la composición de unas letanías en su honor. Otros santos también conocidos por su devoción a esta santa fueron: San Antonio María Claret, San Juan Nepomuceno, San Pedro Chanel, Santa Francisca Javier Cabrini y la venerable Paulina Jaricot, fundadora de la asociación del Rosario Viviente.
