Psaltirea

Psalmul este liniste a sufletelor, este conducator al pacii; potoleste tulburarea si valvataia gandurilor, inmoaie mania sufletului si infraneaza pe cel desfranat. Psalmul leaga prietenii, uneste pe cei de departe, impaca pe cei invrajbiti. Cine se mai poate socoti vrajmas al celui cu care a inaltat acelasi glas spre Dumnezeu? Cantatul psalmilor aduce deci cel mai mare bun: dragostea. Cantatul impreuna este ca un lant care duce la unire; uneste poporul in simfonia unui singur cor. Psalmul pune pe fuga pe demoni si aduce pe ingeri intr-ajutor; este arma pentru frica de noapte; odihna pentru ostenelile zilei; este intarirea pruncilor, podoaba celor in floarea varstei, mangaiere batranilor, gateala foarte potrivita femeilor. Psalmul populeaza pustiurile, cuminteste pietele; este carte elementara de invatatura pentru cei ce intra in viata; crestere pentru cei ce inainteaza in varsta, intarire pentru cei maturi. Psalmul este glas al Bisericii; psalmul inveseleste sarbatorile; psalmul naste tristetea cea dupa Dumnezeu; psalmul scoate lacrima si din inima de piatra; psalmul este lucrul ingerilor, vietuire cereasca, parfum duhovnicesc. In psalmi este cu putinta sa gasesti invatatura desavarsita despre Dumnezeu, prevestirea despre venirea in trup a lui Hristos, amenintarea cu judecata, nadejdea invierii, frica de pedeapsa, fagaduintele slavei, descoperirile tainelor.

Psalmii se clasifica in diverse categorii:

(3) psalmi de mulţumire (30, 65, 103, 107, 116),

(4) psalmi de pocăinţă (6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, 143),

(5) psalmi prin care străbate încrederea (3, 27, 31, 46, 56, 62, 86),

(6) psalmi ai necazurilor (4, 13, 55, 64, 88),

(7) psalmi ai dorinţelor (42, 63, 80, 84, 137),

(8) psalmi care recapitulează istoria (78, 105, 106) şi

(9) psalmi profetici (2, 16, 22, 24, 40, 45, 68, 69, 72, 97, 110, 118)

Psalm is quiet souls, is the leader of peace; quenches blaze disorder and thoughts, anger softens the soul bridle on the lewd. Psalm connects friends, unites the far appease the Hatred.
