קדש ברנע

היישוב נוסד בשנת 1977 על ידי יוצאי צבא. ב-1980 החלה הקמת מחנה ניצנה על גבעה בסמוך לתל-ניצנה העתיקה. בעקבות הפינוי המזורז מסיני ועד להשלמת המחנה - התגוררו המתיישבים במשך שמונה חודשים במושב אשלים, הסמוך לקיבוץ משאבי שדה. לאחר מכן עברו כעשר משפחות למחנה שהושלם בניצנה, והחלו לעסוק בחקלאות ובשירותי דרך (מזנון ותחנת דלק).
המתיישבים החליטו לשמור על השם ההיסטורי קדש ברנע, למרות שוועדת השמות הממשלתית החליטה לקרוא ליישוב ניצני סיני. עד היום נושא היישוב את שני השמות (במפה מופיע היישוב כניצני סיני), למרות שהכל מכירים אותו כקדש ברנע.
קדש ברנע הוא מושב חילוני בהרחבה, המונה כ-42 משפחות. קדש ברנע הוא יישוב קהילתי קטן בעל אופי חקלאי, אם כי יש העובדים גם מחוץ ליישוב. קדש ברנע הוא היישוב הגדול ביותר בפתחת ניצנה. המתיישבים במקום מאוחדים בהכרת הפוטנציאל של האזור וברצון לגור ביישוב שקט ואיכותי, המתאפיין בגישה של "חיה ותן לחיות".
