תומר

תומר הינו מושב בבקעת הירדן אשר הוקם על ידי תנועת המושבים, אשר הקימה גרעין אזרחי של בני מושבים קיבוצים ועירוניים. תומר הוקם כישוב אזרחי ב-1976 ובין הראשונים מיישובי תנועת המושבים בבקעת הירדן. ראשיתו כמושבוץ בישוב זמני בסביבת מעלה אפרים והקרקעות למטה בבקעה. מידי בוקר, ירדו כל החברים לעבד את השטחים: אבטיחים, כרמים, מלונים חצילים עגבניות ועוד במקום בו השטחים קיימים עד היום. בשנת 1978 עם המעבר לישוב הקבע החל את דרכו כמושב עובדים, כל המשפחות עסקו בגידולים חקלאיים שהיו משותפים בתקופת ההקמה ובהמשך התפתח למשקים משפחתיים, שהתפתחו למושב מפואר הן חקלאית והן חברתית. כיום למושב יש מטע תמרים משותף בהיקף של למעלה מ-1,000 דונם ובית אריזה לתמרים ועוד פעילות כלכלית ענפה. במושב תומר הגידולים הבולטים הם תמרים, ענבים, עגבניות, אננס, אספרגוס, חצילים, פלפלים ועוד כמו כן ישנם חקלאים שהקימו בשנים האחרונות דיר עיזים ואפילו לול תרנגולות. מושב תומר מעולם לא הפסיק לקלוט ולהתפתח, כיום מתגוררות במושב 97 משפחות ובהם בנים חוזרים שהקימו בתים ומשקים לתפארת ועוד 16 משפחות של בנים חוזרים שנקלטו אך עדיין לא מתגוררות במושב. התושבים עובדים חלקם בחקלאות וחלקם במקצועות שונים בבקעה או ברחבי הארץ אבל תמיד חוזרים בערב הביתה למושב. כוחה של קהילת תומר במערכת קהילתית חזקה התומכת באנשיה ומהווה רשת בטחון חברתית. במושב שירותים מגוונים לרווחת התושבים: מזכירות ושירותי דואר, צרכניה, מועדון תרבות, מועדון לגיל הרך, מועדון ילדים, מועדון נוער, בית כנסת, גן ילדים, פעוטון, גן שעשועים, מגרש כדור סל, דלקיה, מתקני ספורט, בריכת שחייה הפעילה בחודשי הקיץ ומגרש כדור רגל המשמש כמגרש הביתי של קבוצת הפועל בקעת הירדן. מושב תומר הוא בעל אופי חילוני אך קיימת זיקה למסורת בחגיגת חגים משותפים יחד.
